On 6 20, the Zhengzhou-Wanzhou High-Speed Railway began operations, completing the full line of the Zhengzhou-Chongqing High-Speed Railway.
The Zhengzhou-Chongqing High-Speed Railway consists of the Yuxian Intercity Railway, which opened in 2016, and the Zhengzhou-Wanzhou High-Speed Railway. It is a key component of the Yangtze River Corridor and the Hohhot-Nanning Corridor within China's "Eight Verticals and Eight Horizontals" high-speed rail network, spanning Henan, Hubei, and Chongqing.
After the Zhengzhou-Wanzhou High-Speed Railway opens in its entirety, travel time from Zhengzhou to Chongqing will be reduced from 8 hours to 4 hours. With the railway's opening, Shennongjia and Baokang in Hubei Province will also end their history of having no high-speed rail service.
